As part of the Big Splash event (Sat 28th Aug – Sunday 5th Sept in downtown Newport) Garfield, Teddy Baden, Wreckage, Matt ‘Spidey’ Webb and the crew will bring some Mutate style to the banks of the River Usk; expect giant Mutoid mosquito monoliths and Street Art from our stable, Bristol and of course the local contingent – all curated by Teddy Baden and Wreckage. Pictured is Dep grafting at the Teddy Baden dog pound… Everyone welcome as always – and if you live locally and would like to lend a helping hand please let us know by emailing [email protected] More news coming soon on this one – I’ve seen a lot of sewing machines around recently…

This is going to be real gooood…

Our friends at WXSP are bang on it! Squirreled away in a hidden urban Eden I had a constructive evening yesterday with Teddy Baden, Liam ‘Gwarm’ Hayhow, Mark Anthony Stotesbury Bracegirdle and Light Weight Glen. Teddy’s yard is bizarre and bountiful:

…and now it’s host to whole heap of WXSP handy heroes who are hurriedly hacking, sawing, painting and screwing all ready for the street party which starts this Saturday 24th July and ends the day after at around 6pm… the work says up until Sept 5th too. But I reckon get down there this weekend for definite! The art work is top draw, there’s music and all the good vibes you’d expect – check the website for more details – and here’s a likkle sneaky peaky for your ocular edification:

Whitecross Street Party – 24th + 25th July – EC1 – be there!

A spectacular FREE two day event, commencing on Saturday 24th – 25th July, 12 – 6pm. The Whitecross Street Party will be held in the heart of London’s internationally renowned art scene and will include some the worlds most creative living non-conformist Artists. For TWO whole days dozens of Leading cult, counter culture and contemporary artists will converge upon Whitecross street. Here they shall lay siege to the notion that things always have to be the same. Happily the area famous for its historical creative’s, dissidents and mavericks will now see again on mass – ‘Rise of the non- conformists’. Check the VERY IMPRESSIVE artists list here.

Packa's Dragon is mutating for Glastonbury

Here’s Packa’s Dragon at our Glasto warm up party, it will be making it’s first full outing at the festival, complete with body, wings and tail – fear the flaming beast! If you’re coming to Glasto then don’t forget to pay us a visit, we’re in The Unfairground with the Mutoids and Bez and Mani – it’ll be back to the old school festival vibes in our corner! Map here Secret DJs aplenty in our corner, with Rebel Sonix (pictured) keeping their hands on the DJ/VJ tiller – plus what promises to be a mind blowing performance from RizMC’s MICroscope interactive visual extravaganza. You might know Riz from his lead roles in Chris Morris’s Terrorist Comedy ‘4 Lions’, Chalie Brooker’s ‘Dead Set’ and Peter Kozminski’s ‘Britz’ – all of which were exceptional dramas – Riz is a real talent AND a sick MC, his new project involves crowd interatcion and a story that will leave you  questioning your very ears!  Check this Losers Dan Hiller video I posted a while back: [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsaLyUTDGTo] There will be all kinds of giant Mutoid sculpture and brand new Street Art – even new work from Obey! More on that in next few days…

Mutate support The Robin Hood Tax Campaign

Bill Nighy, Tom Felton and some other aspiring celebs came to Cordy House to see the work of Dr D, Wreckage, Teddy Baden, Peter Dunne, Carrie Reichardt, War Boutique, Dotmasters, David Walker and kennardphillipps. So I thought it would be a shame not to film it. Here are the results for your ocular pleasurement: [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpZO-pUb8vo]

Hold tight all crew!

Mutate Britain and The Robin Hood Tax – celebrity election special!

Massive thanks to everyone who came yesterday to support our Robin Hood Tax campaign day. Hannah Cameron (no relation!), Nicky Wimble, Richard Curtis, Bill Nighy, Noel Clarke, Tom Felton and Joe Dempsie – great to have you all here and using your skills and profile to contribute to this excellent campaign. You can support it here

I’ve really enjoyed the chance to make some Street Art with real substance happen. The whole thing really was a ‘no brainer’ – not least because the contributing artists have been making work that relates to the bastard bankers’ social crimes for some time! Did you know that when the RHT campaign was launched Goldman Sachs attacked it? Pretty low. Check this Telegraph article and this Dr D subvertisment. My respect and thanks goes to Dr D, Pete Dunne, Wreckage, Teddy Baden, Her Imperial Majesty The Baroness Carrie von Reichardt, Dotmasters, War Boutique, kennardphillipps and David Walker.

I think the best Street Art criticises consumer culture, presents ideas for change and makes a city-wide game that is an alternative to the commercial visual drivel of the information age we are all immersed in… down with visual drivel, up with real substance!

All conquering respect and love to all the Mutationerizers who get it done, including but not limited to… Liam Hayhow, Garfield Hackett, Joe Rush, Wreckage, Sam Haggerty, Teddy Baden, and Hugo Toland! Jack x
