Glasto VICTORY

YES! It’s the weekend after Glastonbury. This is the first time I’ve been able to express genuinely positive emotion. On reflection, the whole South East Corner absolutely SMASHED it this year – particularly The Unfairground which was named as best field by The Telegraph of all papers)

Joe, Wreckage, Sam Haggerty, Liam ‘Gwarmination’ Hayhow, Pete Henham, Dave (the master behind the 30ft fire breathing bust), Dhugal, Teddy Baden, Kabz, Fang, Dotmasters, Dr D, Best Ever, Zadok, Aile and LOADS more 100% champions – you made something amazing. It was much more than a field, it was an exhibition of extraordinary talent. It really was. It’s amazing to write that. Thank you all.

This video gives a little intro to The Unfairground and Shangri-La – but the next one, coming in a week or so, will be a block buster – so hold tight for that one!

There were all kinds of secret sets across the weekend. And these were ACTUAL SECRETS for people who ACTUALLY KNOW. Not that Park Stage ’secret’ business where even the flag wavers were in on it. Here are some snaps of Fat Boy Slim smashing the crowd with some Glasto-exclusive selections. There’s something about mixing the word ‘Glastonbury’ with an expletive after 2am that is magic…

AND THE DANCE FLOOR IN SHARKEY’S CHURCH OF THE THE HOLLY ROLLER LOOKED AMAZING!!!

More pics detailing all the incredible new features in the field coming soon! We are moving, shaking and mutating…

One way or another… late night Glastonbury

For seasoned Glastonbury party goers, the South East corner of the Festival site – Shangri-La, Arcadia, The Common, The Unfairground and Block9 – have been the place to be, offering an alternative to the hunter wellies and hoards of flags and folding chairs of the main stages.

One issue has been since attracting larger and more enthusiastic crowds is that congestion has built year on year to the extent that in 2010 it was uncomfortable for the audience and concerning for organisers.

News has been released of a one-way system that will in place….

So, this year, between the hours of 11.00pm and 4.00am on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, it will not be possible to access the South East corner by walking along the railway track. If you’d like to go to these fields during these hours the access will be through Glebeland – the theatre field. From there will be a walkway behind Circus and Cabaret fields into Arcadia and then into Shangri-la. Once in that area festival-goers will be able to go from one field to another enjoying the different performances.

There will be three exits from the area – along the railway track; into the Field of Avalon; and into the Cabaret Field. Once you have left these fields, to re-enter you will have to return to Glebeland. The railway track is exit-only between these hours. If numbers build in this area in the early hours, festival-goers will wait in Glebeland and only be allowed in the walkway if there is sufficient space in the fields in the south east corner.

In the past there have been no constraints at Worthy Farm on where festival-goers can go at any time – and the decision to make these restrictions was not lightly taken. But it is a positive move to ensure that festival goers can enjoy this wonderful area safely.
